• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

    Question Box

All draining moves can be used either for health or for energy.
  2. Negrek

    Question Box

Sound moves are tricky like that... why doesn't sing put everybody on the field to sleep, for example, assuming that the mon's singing loud enough for somebody on the other side of the field to hear it? Especially in contrast to perish song, which does affect the whole field. I think you could...
  3. Negrek

    Question Box

Since it was ruled that you cannot cover your eyes to block hypnosis, hypnosis must have some non-visual component and therefore pokémon without eyes, with weird eyes, or currently blinded/with reduced vision would still be vulnerable.
  4. Negrek

    Question Box

Three actions including the one where the berry was consumed.
  5. Negrek

    Question Box

Yup. Since rest normally restores health over the course of three actions, the pokémon will gain as much health as is appropriate for the number of actions it stays asleep and no more. So if it sleeps for only one action before waking up, it will regain 33% of its health and have status healed...
  6. Negrek

    Question Box

A mistake, presumably. I updated it to per action rather than per round.
  7. Negrek

    Question Box

Generally I split toxic out across actions anyway... so if overall toxic's supposed to be at 3% per round, it does 1% action one, another 1% action two, etc. So if the round cuts off early, you just take health away for however many actions their actually are. For cases where toxic's at...

  9. Negrek

    Question Box

Currently it doesn't, although I think it might be beneficial to put the energy increase on those, too, in the future. Correct, link cable trace grants the pokémon an extra ability instead of overwriting the native ability. The second ability is lost as soon as the pokémon loses the link cable...
  10. Negrek

    Question Box

Ah, yeah, if you apply the bonus to the amount drained per round rather than per action, you would get an extra point or so of recovery. Seems kind of awkward sticking an extra 1% in for one action and not the others, but that's an aesthetic argument rather than a game design one as such...
  11. Negrek

    Question Box

I guess it can? It's a bit weird, since it's based on the raw HP values, which are most likely unequal between the pokémon, whereas we're working with percentages that are always going to be consistent. It actually seems like kind of a moot point, because the big root multiplier would have to...
  12. Negrek

    Question Box

Thematically it would make sense for big root to affect leech seed, but since in ASB leech seed already restores as much as it drains. So big root would have to make it restore more than it drained somehow, which strikes me as a bit silly.
  13. Negrek

    Question Box

Yes, unless they say otherwise. Generally the only reason they wouldn't is if they involve rental pokémon; in that case, you get the rental at the end of the battle, but it won't have any EXP. For the Battle Royal, yes, except rental pokémon.
  14. Negrek

    Question Box

Sleep talk can definitely call rest, yeah. In-game it just fails, but I would probably have it work unless the reason the pokémon was asleep was that it was already in the middle of using rest.
  15. Negrek

    Question Box

In the absence of other opinions, I think it's reasonable to say that big root affects only attacks that restore 50% or less of the damage dealt. That would mean it doesn't affect attacks like draining kiss or oblivion wing, and doesn't affect leech seed recovery.
  16. Negrek

    Question Box

Returning to this post of yesteryear, which I don't think was ever officially decided upon... tbh I'd say it either shouldn't affect the damage at all, or at the last shouldn't go about ~80% restored out of damage dealt... 75% is quite a lot, and going higher than that starts to get pretty crazy.
  17. Negrek

    Question Box

Usually I let the trainer who sends out a new pokémon after their last was KO'd attack second, regardless of the previous command order.
  18. Negrek

    Question Box

Probably not. Fling works on items, which are very small and not very heavy (even an iron ball wouldn't weigh all that much). For most pokémon (or heavy/large/cumbersome things in general), try strength instead. Depends on what you mean. Do you mean something like one attack potentially used in...
  19. Negrek

    Question Box

It only works on pokemon on the field.
  20. Negrek

    Question Box

I would have it heal 4% health/energy each round instead of 3%.
